Despite a number of players being unavailable, the 1st division side went into the game full of confidence after a tough pre-season under returning coach Bryce O’Connor and ex-premiership coach, and new fitness coach Terry Little.
The Power 1st Division held their opponents scoreless in the first quarter and at the half-time break had a match winning 68-point lead.
With the Power’s running players Josh Simpson, Jaiden Browne, Ben Williams and Captain Jack Mahony dominating around ground, the forwards were having a field day.
They made the most of their opportunities with Ricky Neels and Josh Krull each kicking five goals and Kiama winning the game 28. 8. 176 to 4.3.27.
The 2nd Division side started the ball rolling with veterans Ash Priest and Andrew Britton (two goals) lining up again and the return of premiership players Dan Herbert (11 goals) and Rod Richards (one goal) after a three-year break.
Their experience, combined with young guns Lewis Tomlinson and Brendan Pollard, and the Irish connection of Patty O’Neil and Seamus Hickey, meant the 2nd Division boys ran out comfortable 118-point winners, 23.10.148 to 5.0.30.
This week is the first home game of the 2016 season at Bonaira Oval, with the Power hosting the newly combined Nowra/Albatross side.
The 2nd Division starts at noon and the 1st Division game is at 2.10pm.
The Power is having an Op Shop ball on May 14 at the Kiama Leagues Club, with local band Care Factor playing.
