When the '60s Hollywood star Steve McQueen died in 1980 – of lung cancer at the age of 50 – he left behind a collection of around 36 cars and 138 motorcycles, plus sundry things like vintage trucks and pot-belly stoves he had on his small Californian ranch and in storage units across the country.
