Kiama MP Gareth Ward was joined by NSW Minister for Disability Services John Ajaka on-site at Jerrara on Tuesday to make the presentation to treasurer Alicia Parker.
“I was very pleased to be able to secure this $10,000 funding which will go towards replacing the roof on their recreation shed which houses the lawn mowers and tractors,” Mr Ward said.
Mr Ward also presented a desktop computer to provide an additional office resource for the Illawarra Riding for the Disabled committee members and volunteers.
“Illawarra Riding for the Disabled does a really fantastic job providing recreation and support for people with a disability, in a caring and safe environment,” he said.
“I acknowledge the secretary Carmen Netherclift, who is a tireless campaigner for this organisation and who lobbied well for this $10,000 funding.
“Riding for the Disabled is a great example of an organisation that makes such an enormous contribution to people with disabilities and their families, and I want to use this opportunity to promote the wonderful work they do.”
Illawarra Riding for the Disabled secretary Carmen Netherclift also welcomed the funding.
“We really want to thank Gareth for all of his efforts and support for our organisation,” Mrs Netherclift said.
