In 2014, a report commissioned by council found that both the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre and the Old Fire Station Community Arts Centre would be suitable sites for a Kiama arts precinct. This would include a gallery, workshop and performance space.
Council has approved the development of plans for both sites to prepare for any funding opportunities that may arise.
Council is also looking to negotiate with the state government regarding the current ambulance station site next to the Old Fire Station, after the Baird government last year announced plans to invest about $5 million to relocate and upgrade the Kiama ambulance station.
