The property at 169 Charles Avenue Minnamurra sold last Thursday for $1.1 million. The 24-year-old Illawarra surf star purchased the property for $515,000 in 2009.
The four-bedroom home, which Fitzgibbons completely renovated, sold within two weeks of being listed for sale. The home is situated on a 852 square metre block that backs on to Kiama Golf Course and is within walking distance to the beach and river.
Ray White Kiama’s Michelle Lay said the home was purchased by a local family who enjoys surfing, swimming and kayaking, with Fitzgibbons “throwing in” a surfboard with the sale once she heard the family shared her passion for surfing.
Ms Lay said the successful buyer had actually tried to buy the house in 2009, but lost out to Fitzgibbons, and had fought hard to buy the property this time around.
The home has a contemporary design and includes a custom board room which housed Fitzgibbons’ surfboards and a training trampoline built into the back yard. Prior to the sale Fitzgibbons said she intends to stay in the area and keep training on and around the Minnamurra River.
“I love that river and I don’t intend on going too far,” Fitzgibbons said.
