In Kiama, the annual Community Carols, hosted by the Kiama Ministers’ Fraternal (representing the churches in Kiama and Gerringong), will be on Wednesday, December 16, from 7.30pm– 9pm in Hindmarsh Park.
If it is raining, they will take place in the hall at Kiama Anglican Church, at the ocean end of Terralong Street (opposite the Blowhole).
The event is sponsored by Kiama council, the combined churches and service clubs and businesses.
“Everyone was really disappointed last year when the weather drove us indoors at the last minute, so we’re looking forward to a fine and clear evening this year,” Rev Steve Stanis, co-chair of the carols committee said.
The evening will celebrate Christmas through the singing of a mixture of old and popular carols with more modern Christmas songs.
Musicians and entertainers, both local and from further afield, make up a high-quality and varied program.
To get us all singing our favourite carols as the Kiama community the event will be led by the children’s choir from St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic School, their first appearance at the Carols concert.
Mission Australia’s ‘Triple Care Farm’ has been selected as the worthy recipient of this year’s charity offering, and local shops will be ‘open for business’ just across the road from the carols.
