The Year 3 student and youngest ambassador for the NSW Government's annual disability education campaign was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and uses a wheelchair to get around.

He's an accomplished public speaker and athlete, playing tennis, basketball and competing in his recent school swimming carnival where he won first place in two events.

But lack of wheelchair access means he can't always get into a swimming pool without help or get on to a stage to deliver a speech. Even family activities such as seeing a movie can be challenging as wheelchair spaces at his local cinema are placed in a way which prevents him sitting with his parents and two younger sisters Tilly and Hannah.

Cormac believes buildings and public transport could be much better for the thousands of wheelchair users in the state.

"People want to do stuff but they can't because there is no wheelchair access," he said. "People want to go places but they can't because they can't use their wheelchair. It's not really fair."

He has a wide group of friends at his Concord school where his favourite subjects include English, science and Human Society and its Environment.

His hobbies include skateboarding, reading, playing Minecraft and he's recently started a blog about people with disabilities.

With the help of paralympic gold medallist Kurt Fearnley, Cormac has taken up wheelchair racing, completing the City2Surf in 70 minutes.

As one of the faces of the state government's Don't DIS My ABILITY campaign, the youngster from Liberty Grove in Sydney's west intends to spread a positive message.

"Always include people whether they have a disability or not," he said. "Even if people have a disability they're still normal people. Treat everyone the same."
