Kiama Women’s Bowling Club members and visitors donned tiaras and diamonds to embrace the Diamond Jubilee theme for the 60th anniversary celebrations at Kiama Women’s Bowling Club last Tuesday.

Kiama president Greta O’Donnell welcomed state director Beryl Watson, Illawarra District president Dawn Driscoll, district treasurer Glenda Cook, South Coast District president Dorothy Sullivan and Regional representative Heather Skinner to enjoy the day.
A friendly game of bowls was followed by lunch served with champagne and strawberries.
State director Beryl Watson presented merit badges to Kiama secretary Jean Clowes, treasurer Carol Parkinson, past president Gaye Reynolds and Kiama vice-president and IWDBA secretary Barbara Roser.
Special guest was foundation secretary Phillipa Hardy.
In 1955, then 32-year-old Phillipa was the driving force in the formation of Kiama Women’s Bowling Club.
All guests were given a ‘60 years of History’ booklet, which was compiled by Bronwyn Campbell.
In the Mixed Triples A. Evans, A. Van Zanen and T. Boniface defeated C. Twigg. M. Minet and B. Hudson 31-6. G. O’Donnell, N. Tylee and A. Rogers beat C. Rymer, A. Schofield and S. Wills 22-21, and G. Reynolds, J. Kirk and M. Wilson beat R. Jones, T. Jones and B. Campbell 28-20.
Wednesday's social bowls were won by R. Logan and M. Barker with the runners-up K. Dransfield, S. Taylor and B. Hudson. On Thursday winners were B. Harris, M. Sheather and B. Dun, with the runners-up I. Pirie, R. Keating and W. Steel.
