The Californian bungalow at 22 Suvla Street, known as ‘5 Islands’ is currently owned by Roman Tatangelo, who said MM built about eight Californian bungalows for management in the area. Mr Mills lived in the home with his family until 1954.
“It was then purchased by an Italian immigrant, who brought his tomato garden, orchid and veggie patch knowledge, to the delight of neighbours,” he said.
Raine & Horne Wollongong’s Alex Verdi said the two-bedroom home has a formal lounge, dining area and sun-room with views of Port Kembla beach. Original features include picture rails, decorative ceilings and cornices, original fireplace, timber doors and window frames. It will be auctioned on Saturday November 28.
