Councillor Mark Honey and general manager Michael Forsyth attended the awards ceremony, which coincided with 40 years since the university’s foundation.
David Hurley, Governor of NSW was among the guests at the event.
The Alumni and Fellowship awards are presented to graduates and staff who have shown imagination, determination, passion and connection to local communities. The awards acknowledge people who have made their mark in the world after graduating from the university.
Gerringong resident and guest speaker at council’s Australia Day Awards ceremony, Kimberley Abbott, received the Young Alumni Award.
Kiama resident Dr Diann Rodgers-Hedley received the Alumni Award for Social Impact.
Another former resident of the municipality, Stephanie Puris, was also a finalist in the Alumni awards.
