It’s been eight years since the publication of The South Coast Cookbook which celebrated the amazing food, produce and landscape of the NSW South Coast.
The South Coast Cookbook 2 features more than 50 recipes from 28 of the best chefs from Kiama to Eden, with contributions from John Evans (SOUTH on Albany), David Campbell (Hungry Duck and Wharf Rd), Nick Gardner (Silos Restaurant & The Waterhouse) Alex Delly (St. Isidore) and Huw Jones (Zanzibar Café) among many others.
With features on local producers including Buena Vista Farm, Cupitt’s Winery, Moonlight Flat Oysters, Tilba Dairy and Eden Mussels as well as farmer’s markets and contributions by South Coast Food ambassadors Rick Stein and Paul West, The South Coast Cookbook 2 tells the story of the dedicated people who are the cornerstone of food culture in this much loved region.
The original South Coast Cookbook was independently published in 2008 by Zorana Grbic, a Canberra turned South Coast hospitality entrepreneur, along with her two children Stefan and Sasha.
Zorana tragically passed away the following year from ovarian cancer, leaving the business to her children.
The South Coast Cookbook 2 is a look to a new direction for the company – supporting local chefs and producers and contributing to the great local food culture than many South Coast residents and visitors revere, as well as raising over $25,000 for Ovarian Cancer Australia in the process.
Head Chef from Silos Restaurant in Berry and The Waterhouse in Huskisson Nick Gardner said the cookbook provides an insight into the dedication of the region’s chefs, while celebrating the abundant local produce of the coast.
“The book gives people a glimpse into the hard work we put in as chefs,” he said.
“The South Coast has so many amazing restaurants and producers and we’re all connected. Readers can see how passionate we are about what we do while having a chance to cook their favourite South Coast food at home.
“We’re very pleased to contribute to a project that tells the story of our region’s wonderful food landscape.”
The South Coast Cookbook 2 will be in South Coast and Canberra bookshops and gift stores by the last week of October, and available online at www.quicksandfood.com.
To celebrate the launch of cookbook, an open event will be held at Cupitt’s Winery in Milton at 5pm on Sunday, November 15.
