After a long period of restoration, the 1930’s heritage train is ready to visit the South Coast again, bringing tourist from Sydney for a day trip on the Kiama Picnic Train.

The return day trips from Sydney’s Central Station depart at 8.40am on Sundays, October 18 and 25, plus November 8 and 15. Picking up passengers at Hurstville, Sutherland, Thirroul and Wollongong along the way.

Groups are able to book private compartments in these classic carriages for the 240km return trip, or individuals can book with special introductory pricing.

Illawarra passengers are able to receive travel from Thirroul or Wollongong at a reduced rate.

The Kiama Picnic Train is equipped with a Buffet Car where light meals, snacks and beverages can be purchased. Passengers are also welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks. The train is licensed, so alcoholic beverages need to be purchased onboard.

Customers have over three hours in Kiama to enjoy lunch before exploring the stunning coastline, featuring the iconic blowhole. Shop at Kiama Seaside Markets during the train’s visits on October 18 and November 15.

Upon arrival in Kiama, the train will be made available to local charities as a special fund-raising activity.
