The newest and arguably most innovative surf event on the South Coast, the Battle Royale is on again.
The invitation-only surf competition features competitors from South Sydney to the far South Coast.
As per the inaugural event last year, 32 surfers will do battle in the best waves between Stanwell Park and Sandon Point.
This year’s event, on Saturday, October 24, will allow the public to vote for their favourite wildcard entries.
A Junior Schools event, The Undercard (co-hosted by Illawarra Sports High Talented Surfing Program), will also launch on Friday, October 23, with the winner then progressing through to the main event.
Other competitors named so far include 2015 Werri Slash winner Matt Gale, and 2014 Under-18s Australian champion Kalani Ball from Stanwell Park.
A $5000 prize pool awaits successful contestants. For more details, visit dpsurfboards.com.au.
