THE Shellharbour Woodcarvers group put their expertise to good use recently, donating funds raised to Sydney Children’s Hospital.

The group carved a chess set with an Australiana theme and put it up for sale.
It took a total of eight months to construct and was sold online.
The proceeds went to the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
“An Australian girl living in New York bought it, and we consequently sent it over to her,” convenor Frank O’Connor said.
The group recently visited the Children’s Hospital to deliver the cheque for $3000.
The group is based at Wilga Close, Albion Park Rail.
They meet on the first Monday and the third Saturday on each month, from 9.30am to 2pm. Contact Frank on 4283 3124.
