The calm skill and pace of five-eighth Josiah Brierley caught attention.
“His ability to change direction, then set up another player and his goal kicking is some of the best we have seen for his age,” a club spokesman said.
“Dillon Collier and Reilly Smith continue to develop their skills, and their determination inspires all.
“Wingers Kyle Young and Patrick Hogan always put in and are making great progress.
“Patrick’s try in the grand final shows what these players are capable of.”
Bonnie Brewer had a great year last year, but her progress has reached another level with her running, attacking and passing.
“Her captaincy was accentuated by her fast-thinking tactical brain, tied with her ability to run with the ball, attack and pass.
“Her tackling is way above her weight and her service to her backline is consistent and quick.
“Forwards Malaki Stedman, Ben McGann and Ben Fish led the pack and inspired the younger players to have a real go.
“Malaki’s runs and tackles are kamikaze-style; Ben’s more like a steam locomotive, whereas Rikaea can tackle like a machine and hit up like a raging bull.
“Lachlan Collier takes them all on straight up the middle and gets right into the rucks and mauls.
“Many of the players who joined this year were a year younger than under 11, but that made no difference in the way they applied themselves.
“Luke Gallen (under 9) was a great asset as a utility - his defence and incisive runs were invaluable.
“Miles Duncombe never backed down and always gave his all.
“Austin Knight and Samuel Lucas are learning to use their size and weight, and Sam made good runs.
“Rikaea joined us this year and has become part of the team’s play with his runs off the tap pass and defence.
“Dillon Collier and Ben McGann never missed a training run or match in two seasons.
“Jackson Blake played his first season and what a competitor he is.
“He was top try scorer and his defence is solid. He had a strong grand final, scoring two tries, and is a player to watch.
“The club thanks its sponsors and helpers for their hard work, the parents for the hours put in, all the coaches for giving up their time and the committee for helping to run the club.”
