The second annual Ride 4 Rotary event, a project from the combined Rotary clubs of Illawarra, involved 50 riders riding around the velodrome and raising funds through sponsorship.
Ride 4 Rotary co-ordinator and Corrimal Rotary member Stephen Knightley handed over a cheque for over $11,000 to representatives of SYFS at their Denison Street office in Wollongong on August 12.
SYFS will use the funds to support at-risk youth.
"It [Ride 4 Rotary] is a fun ride for both serious and social riders; we have good coffee and food and music. Everyone has a good time on the day," he said.
"In the fullness of time, we're hoping the ride has the capacity to attract more than 200 riders. It could be a $70,000 to $80,000 event down the track."
Mr Knightley said they hoped to raise over $20,000 next year.
"SYFS are very active in supporting youth that have fallen [by the] wayside ... we'll include them next year because they were very good at partnering with us to make the event a success."
