Changes in government policy have led to a decision by Shellharbour City Council to exit Home and Community Care Services (HACC) and National Respite Carers Program (NRCP).
Services include carers respite, senior activities and support and information.
Shellharbour councillors voted to exit delivery on the basis that "more services continue to enter this competitive market", and a result of funding changes and the proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The council maintained it would continue to advocate for people with a disability, celebrate Seniors Week and facilitate the Disability Access Committee.
Mayor Marianne Saliba said Warrigal was a well-established organisation with "a positive reputation" and service users could be "assured that there will be minimal to no disruption to services".
"By council novating services to Warrigal, the community are assured that services will remain local, operating out of Albion Park HACC Centre in the short-term," Cr Saliba said.
"Warrigal has advised it would like to provide opportunities for our volunteers and possible opportunities for staff."
The conversion process involves developing a transition plan, ensuring communication with stakeholders and providing ongoing information.
