Early last month, Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis created waves when she claimed her opposition to marriage equality reflected the views of her electorate.
Mrs Sudmalis' stance, made known just a day after Opposition Leader Bill Shorten introduced a bill to change the definition of marriage to "the union of two people", prompted supporters to voice their frustration via an online change.org petition, "Listen to the Electorate: Support Marriage Equality".
At the time, the MP couldn't say if the petition would change her stance, but told the Mercury a community newsletter would include a survey on the issue.
The newsletter and associated survey, which includes the question "Do you support same-sex marriage?", went live on Mrs Sudmalis' website - annsudmalismp.com.au - on Monday afternoon.
Gilmore residents can expect a hard copy in their mailbox over coming days.
"This survey is the biggest survey I have conducted in my electorate since the 2013 federal election and I am looking forward to hearing the views of Gilmore," Mrs Sudmalis said.
The questionnaire, which also covers other subjects, should be returned by August 14.
