Kiama coach James Spence was happy with his side's first half display against a Wests side level on points with the Quarriers.
Striker Keegan Beringer opened the scoring when midfielder Todd Wade lobbed a ball behind the defence for him to run onto, beat goalkeeper Jordan Timpano and finish past a desperate defender.
Kiama had a lot of joy down the right flank and the defence were rarely troubled by the Wests attack.
However, the second-half was a different story. Kiama lacked urgency and let Wests back into the match when Nathan Puljic equalised.
Kiama applied some late pressure and Daniel Swinton saw his fierce strike saved well by Timpano but the scores remained 1-1.
Defender Daniel Sigmund and Wade were outstanding for Kiama while Chris Christodoulou had a brilliant first half.
Earlier in the day, Neil Spence's youth grade side lost 1-0 to the third-placed Wests while Glenn Fisher's reserve grade side scored a 3-0 victory. .
Kiama will take on Kemblawarra at home on Saturday.
