LITTLE fans of the playground on Black Beach will have to wait until the end of the year for a new one - but it will be better and much safer.

A Kiama Council spokeswoman said the old structure was removed after rust compromised its safety.
"The swings, still in service, will also be removed as a new playground and swings is planned for the site with rubber soft fall groundcover replacing the bark," she said.
The work was slated for later this year but had to be brought forward due to the safety concerns .
The new playground has been approved by councillors.
Work is expected to begin in October and should be completed before Christmas.
