AN opportunity to show off the new Australian cricket shirt his grandfather Rick bought him for Christmas has led to Kiama teenager Tom Norris being part of the capacity crowd for this week's second Ashes cricket Test at Lord's.

The Norris family were enjoying a family day out at the Test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground in January, when during a break in play spectators who were wearing a certain brand of cricket gear were invited to stand up.
"My brother Josh and I stood up and the camera panned the ground and focused on us - the commentators were arguing which one of us they should pick for the voucher and in the end picked me," Tom, 14, said.
"The added bonus was that apart from the prize you went into a draw for an all-expenses trip for two to England and the Lord's Test, together with all the winners from the other days in the Test series, but we never really thought much about it.
"Then on February 20, my mum and dad returned from Dad's brother's wedding about midnight and my mum checked her phone and there was a message to say I had won the major prize.
"Mum said Dad was running around the house he was so excited, and rang his brother to tell him - he just had to tell someone."
Tom, a keen junior cricketer with the Kiama junior club, his sister Caitlin and parents Greg and Nikky will now head off for 10 days in London, followed by four days in Paris before heading home.
With Greg using the second Test ticket, Nikky and Caitlin will check out the sights.
To say not everyone in the family was quite as excited is probably an understatement.
"Yeah, Josh isn't very impressed - he was so close to getting the prize and is staying at home because he has his Higher School Certificate this year, but he will hopefully get his chance later," Tom said.
The prize also includes their accommodation and an invitation to a pre-Test gala dinner with Ashes legends at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
The family hopes to investigate the historic Lord's ground and museum.
Greg is also aiming to fit in a day at the British Open golf at some stage.
