Organised by Australian Marriage Equality, the forum will feature a panel of marriage equality campaign leaders who will take questions from the floor. It is expected to run for two hours.
“The public forum is deigned to garner support and to show the federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis there is a groundswell of support for marriage equality,” said Daniel Comensoli, one of the event’s organisers.
“It’s a Q&A style forum so people can ask Australian Marriage Equality director Rod Croome why marriage equality is so important and how to best lobby Ann Sudmalis.
“We think her position can be swayed. The state member Gareth Ward supports marriage equality.”
The public forum will be followed up by a workshop on Saturday designed to inform supporters about how to get in touch with Ann Sudmalis to make their views on marriage equality known.
The public forum is a free event but attendees will have to register ahead of it. Visit auistralianmarriageequality.org, click on the events tab and look for the Gilmore event.
