ILLAWARRA South Coast retained the NSW over 40 veterans hockey championship beating Sydney 1-0 in the final at the Unanderra hockey field last weekend.

Defending their title from Newcastle last year, the ISC team topped their pool and met Parkes in the semi-final, winning 2-0.
The final was a tough contest with Warren Adams scoring the winner in the final minutes.
In pool games, the team beat Macarthur 7-0, Orange 4-0, Newcastle 4-1 and Far North Coast 6-0.
Illawarra's second team had an equally good outing, emerging runners-up in the B division.
The team started off with a 3-2 loss to Manning Valley but later gained momentum to beat Southern Highlands 4-2, Macarthur 4-0 and Nepean 2-0.
The semi-final against Parkes was another close encounter with Craig Bramble scoring the winner in the closing minutes.
In the final against Manning Valley the hosts took a 2-1 lead but the Valley made a late surge to score two goals and win 3-2.
Paul Munro, Paul Schofield, Craig Schofield and Glen Stolk were selected in the NSW team for the nationals in Cairns in October. Jason Collett was selected in the NSW second team.
In Illawarra hockey, Albion Park went to the top of the standings with a 3-2 win over Robertson and goals from Scott Govers, Jack Hayes and Josh Mayo.
University beat Wests Illawarra 5-2 with a double from Flynn Ogilvie on a break from Perth.
Falcons beat Dapto 6-0 in the final game.
