Starring Vika Bull, one of Australia's most respected, powerful soul singers, At Last... has garnered standing ovations and rave reviews throughout its Australian tour.
Bull has sung alongside some of Australia's most famous voices, but it is in At Last..., her first solo headline show, that she showcases the true depth and range of her soulful voice, as she belts out the repertoire of one of the world's most powerful female singers.
Backed by the eight-piece The Essential R & B Band, Bull sings Etta James songs, punctuated by an intimate telling of James's tumultuous life.
At Last: The Etta James Story is a two-hour narrative concert written by acclaimed UK author John Livings, telling the story of Etta James' 57-year career with performances of her heart-wrenching and most beloved songs, including Tell Mama, Something's Got A Hold On Me, Pushover, I'd Rather Go Blind, and her signature song At Last.
James, who died in 2012, has been recognised as bridging the gap between rhythm and blues, rock and roll and pop.
During a long and tumultuous career that saw her win six Grammy Awards and a star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame, James influenced a vast array of artists from Diana Ross, Janis Joplin and Stevie Wonder to The Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart, and is acknowledged as inspiring the careers of a new generation of singers including Christina Aguilera, Adele and the late Amy Winehouse.
