Bay Post/Moruya Examiner reader Ashleigh Hegedus sent photos and said the hail was "very thick".
"There is a very long stretch of it," she said.
"I'm just passing through.
"It started hailing before I got to Bodalla.
"After Bodalla there was a very long stretch of hail already on the road.
"It goes until more than half way to Narooma."
There has been a severe weather warning issued for the South Coast and Illawarra.
Gale-force winds of up to 90 kilometres an hour are forecast for Thursday afternoon.
The NSW State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
