“Nature Play” was such a winner in the last school holidays with kids and their parents that council’s environment team is running it again this month.
During the past holidays, more than 60 children aged three to 12 participated in three activities to learn about water bugs, native birds and native plants.
They talked about different birds and their nests and made their own bird nests to take home and place in a tree to keep an eye on the birdlife in their own gardens.
They also got arty with clay and made ‘fossils’ from leaf prints while learning about local plants and the reasons they all looked different.
This time around, kids can learn about lizards as well as join in the bird and plant activities.
Nature Play will be held at 9.30am, 10.30am and 11.30am on Wednesday, July 8.
The activities are free and kids aged three to 12 years, accompanied by their carer, can join one, two or all three.
Bookings are essential by contacting council’s Courtney Fink-Downes on 4474 7493 by Monday, July 6.
