Anxiety and stress are an unfortunate reality for some and in effort to help combat this condition and help women "be their best selves", Shellharbour Fernwood Fitness will host a free Meditation Session this Friday, July 3.
The inspiration behind the workshop came from Fernwood's 'Mindset Angel', Susan Santoro, who is on a three-month national tour to ignite a movement and help women overcome their fears.
Ms Santoro will share the story of her own battle with anxiety, and the moments when she found herself regularly going into a distressed state of panic for no reason.
"It's [the workshop] for all those women out there, who time and time again, say that they're going to make a change, they're going to join a gym, they are going to leave their partner, get a new job, do this or do that but they never do.
"On this tour I'll be using real life examples, strategies and actions that I live every day of my life, sharing my formula for how I have helped hundreds of other women."
She recently released a book, This Time will be Different.
Shellharbour's Fernwood Fitness Franchise owner Grace Benavente said they frequently came across women suffering from anxiety, stress and/or depression.
"We do see a lot of depression, stress and anxiety in women whether it's because of work pressures or juggling work and family or people going through illness or single mothers," she said.
"Because Ms Santoro had anxiety herself, she has found different ways and strategies on how to change.
"Meditation is just a time to relax and think about where you're at and where you want to be and how to visualise that."
■The Meditation Session will be held Friday, July 3 at Fernwood Fitness on college Avenue Shellharbour City 7:30pm, call 4297 7300 for more information and bookings.
