The cup is named after Kelly, a former Sydney Swans legend, and is contested by teams of years 5 and 6 students; teams consist of 12-a-side under modified under-12 rules.
The Gerringong boys played two regional competitions to qualify for the finals, remaining unbeaten to earn a spot to take the field on the famous SCG.
Teacher Kellie Miller said that the boys won their first regional competition at Albion Park to make the qualifying matches at Loftus, where they beat Saint Teresa's in the final.
"The boys played some great football along the way and it was good to have six players who play regular AFL with Kiama Power and Bomaderry Tigers to add a bit of experience.
"But overall the speed and athleticism of the team was outstanding," she said.
"The boys are excited to play on the SCG some time next term and it will be a great experience for them."
Captain Koby Wood was equally excited. After he missed the last round of matches through injury, he will make his comeback in the finals.
"Yeah, I am heaps pumped and so are the rest of the team - we are all really excited and can't wait for the finals," Wood said.
