Coach Gus Garcia was sweating on the sideline when his team was trailing 3-1 with 14 minutes to go in their Football South Coast District League Competition encounter.
However, his reshuffled side, with six regulars missing due to injury, put in a courageous effort to snare a draw.
Additionally, the Falcons lost centre half David Kiss with a hamstring injury during the first half, allowing Wests to score two quick goals on a breakaway.
The Falcons dominated the first 20 minutes and took the lead, but it took some adjustment after losing a key defender.
It took well into the second half before the visitors woke up and produced a fighting effort to score via Liam Gallo, Jason Murdzevski and Joshua De Gouveia.
Under the circumstances the Falcons were satisfied with one point, as at this time of the season all clubs have to rely on depth in their grades.
On Wednesday night at Keith Bond Oval, the Falcons lost 2-1 against local rivals Warilla Wanderers in a tough match against a well-prepared opposition, led by former Oak Flats coach Barney King.
Joshua De Gouveia scored the Falcons' goal.
On Tuesday, the Falcons play under lights at home against Berkeley and on Saturday also at Keith Bond Oval the Falcons meet Kemblawarra.
In reserve grade, Oak Flats won 4-2 against Wests with goals from Brad Swadling, Chris Murdzevski (two) and Blake Crandell.
A number of youth graders backed up to assist the team.
Youth grade was outplayed by the competition leaders. Both Falcons goals were scored by Mason Steuart.
