The member for Bega, Andrew Constance, also attended.
Apparently, he had supported some sort of council boundary changes or amalgamations and was supposed to talk about the benefits of boundary changes and amalgamations at the beginning of or early in the meeting.
That wasn’t the case, although he did say something at the end of the meeting after many speakers made it clear they didn’t support the amalgamation idea at all, the reason why the meeting was called.
Councils are bound by the rules of state government, under legislation or delegated authority, endorsed after every state election by the elected politicians.
If councils are not satisfying community expectations, the first thing those who are not satisfied need to do is identify in the legislation what is wrong, then alert their local MP and have it changed.
