As part of the 2015 KidsFest Shellharbour celebrations and Healthy Cities Illawarra’s 2528 Projects, a hive of activity unfurled at the park on Wednesday, May 20 for the cardboard creations activity.
No matter what age you are a cardboard box can be anything you want it to be but more specifically when your younger it can be a house, a shop, a bus, a castle or even a strange-looking creature.
With a blend of hundreds of boxes, paint and a little imagination, participants were able to create whatever they felt like. The project gave children from Shellharbour the chance to think about their ideal place to live and create a cardboard garden, complete with a giant hungry caterpillar.
Children also had the opportunity to build and decorate their favourite places, trees and flowers as well as join in seed planting activities and story-time.
Activities for primary aged children were held last in the day.
