Knight, considered one of Australia's finest country/folk entertainers, with two Golden Guitars to his name, is nevertheless ecstatic his internationally acclaimed show has been rated as one of the best interpretations of the music of John Denver around.
"I first met John when I was travelling as a young folk singer in the USA in the mid 1960's, and he has been a great influence on my music and writing since then - this show is not a tribute show, it's a celebration of a great artist I had the privilege to know personally," Knight said.
Wollongong audiences can decide for themselves when Knight performs his Rocky Mountain Echoes show at the City Diggers Club on Friday, May 22.
This performance is a rare one as Knight mainly plays gigs overseas.
"Over the past few years I have performed in such exotic places as USA, Europe, Africa, China, Russia and Japan," he said. "It's amazing how universal John's appeal was, he touched the heart of millions."
Knight said Rocky Mountain Echoes was a celebration of the life and times of Denver from someone who was personally acquainted with him.
"Those who attend will be taken on a magical journey back to the romance, fun and excitement of this wonderful songwriter," he said.
"Audiences around the world have fallen in love with this cornucopia of songs, stories, instruments and just good clean fun."
The Wollongong City Diggers Club concert on May 22 starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased at the club.
