Kiama Rotary
Kiama's longest operating service club, Kiama Rotary, celebrated its 63rd birthday last week. Happy Birthday to all Kiama Rotarians and thank you to our many friends who have supported us over the years.
Nominations are open for the 2015 Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards. If you know a volunteer or paid emergency services officer who has performed community service above and beyond their normal duties, go online and nominate them for this state-wide award at: RotaryESCwards.org.au - nominations close May 31.
Club members will be selling Bowel Cancer Test Kits for $15 at the Kiama Village Shopping Centre from Wednesday to Saturday, May 13-16.
Kiama Rotary made two significant donations last week - $1000 was donated to the Soldier On charity from funds collected at the Anzac Day dawn service barbecue at Kiama Lighthouse. A Shelter Box costing more than $1000 was sent to Nepal along with hundreds more from other Rotary clubs around the world. We also redirected birthing kits, medical and school supplies to Nepal.
Kiama Lions
It looks as if our new van should be sent out west because every time we schedule its use the rains come.
Having completed a successful Race Day we now turn our attention to the Monster Trivia Night at the Pavilion on Saturday, June 13.
Last year was an enormous success and enabled us to donate lots of money to local charities. We hope to do the same this year but the cancellation of a number of monthly markets has affected our disposable income. Please put a team together and make the evening a great success.
We are also looking at ways in which we can raise money for the people of Nepal, so we will probably have barbecues at Bunnings shortly for that cause.
