The unique event, which took place on Tuesday, pits school against school in a competition of surfing skills and prowess.
Unlike most surf contests, this is a team event whereby the best surfer isn't necessarily the most valuable.
This year, 15 teams participated from schools throughout the Illawarra and South Coast.
Teams are made up of two juniors, two seniors and two females.
"The main focus of the event is to build a positive social relationship between schools and also individual students as they rely on one another to compete as a team," co-ordinator Vaya Phrachanh said.
"It is also a great way to promote surfing in a healthy, fun and positive way.
"There is some real talent among these kids, but the main thing we promote is just the participation."
Prior to the event, 14-year-old Harry Smith from Warilla High School said he was looking forward to taking part in his second challenge.
"It was heaps of fun last year and I am really looking forward to it again," Smith said.
Pines Surf Academy has been teaching surfing since 1989.
They have regular camps, including three and five-day camps, in some of the best surfing spots along the coast.
"Our camps are based on our love of the ocean and its constant state of change," Phrachanh said.
"With deep roots in beach culture, we are all about inclusion and a positive state of mind.
"Surf camps allow people to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and chill out on the majestic beaches of the South Coast."
