The Harcourts Real Estate Kiama office is supporting and participating in a NSW-wide education and fundraising campaign, led by Harcourts Foundation.

Susan Spence, principal and licensee at the Kiama office, said this was "certainly a subject that is in everyone's minds, with Rosie Batty taking a lead in awareness and the recent loss of school teacher Stephanie Scott".

Mrs Spence said all seven staff members would travel to Parramatta to participate in the event, which will take place on Friday, May 8 from 11.30am-12.30pm.

"It's something that's really high on people's minds at the moment," she said.

Harcourts staff will be walking down a different path and joining forces with White Ribbon Australia to take a stand against violence.

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes is an education and fund-raising campaign led by the Harcourts Foundation in conjunction with Harcourts Real Estate to increase public awareness of the impact of violence against women in Australia.

All participants are encouraged to wear heels and walk a mile (actually, about a kilometre) along a designated public route, to show solidarity and draw attention to the cause, while working towards their goal of raising $100,000 for White Ribbon nationally.

All proceeds from the campaign will be donated to White Ribbon's Break the Silence program in primary and secondary schools, aimed at creating generational change in attitudes towards violence.
