Early on Wednesday morning, Minnamurra aerial photographer Colin Douch said the patch of salmon at Kiama’s Surf Beach had grown inside, and was “one of the biggest patches I’ve ever seen”, but later commented that it had moved further out to sea.
He also reported no shark sightings among the salmon at Surf Beach.
On Wednesday morning, Kiama Council’s supervising beach lifeguard Andy Mole said the beach was fully open, as there were no visible signs of sharks, but they would monitor the conditions.
Mr Douch had earlier spotted salmon at Easts Beach, and some salmon at Kendalls, but he had not seen sharks at either beach.
Three sharks spotted off Surf Beach led to the beach being closed again on Tuesday.
Mr Douch spotted the sharks again on Tuesday morning among a school of salmon just off the beach.
Mr Douch, who first saw the sharks on Monday, flew over the beach on Tuesday morning and despite the school of fish being smaller, the three sharks remained just outside the surf break.
Mr Mole said the closure on Tuesday was due to precautionary reasons.
