More than 120 year seven students managed to grab the attention of their fellow students by breaking out in a random flashmob.
The latest dance hits echoed throughout the school grounds as year seven tore up the d-floor in effort to let their pupils know that dance was now on the creative arts menu.
Dance teacher Vicki Vargas said it was the first time Oak Flats High had dance as a stand-alone subject.
“It’s to enrich the learning experience of all the students here at the school,” she said.
“Essentially, it’s about the school becoming its own community through things such as movement and creativity.”
Head of creative arts, Wade Jenkins said there were a whole range of students at Oak Flats high and the idea was to “have something for every student”.
“We now have both creative and academic enrichment classes. And that gives the kids an opportunity to succeed where ever possible,” he said.
“We want to be a school that caters for all of its students.”
