After turning professional last year, the 25-year-old Shellharbour-based fighter made light work of opponent Roy Maxwell earlier this month.
Despite his record in 29 fights, the 35-year-old New Zealand opponent was always going to prove a tough test at the Bankstown Emporium Function Centre.
"The fight went the distance against an opponent that was very defensively sound," Lucas said.
"I did hurt him a couple of times but wasn't able to put him away.
"Roy was the ideal opponent for me at the moment because I was able to keep my distance with the jab and when the opportunity presented itself, I pounced and put pressure on him."
The middleweight fight lasted all four rounds but provided Lucas with a solid measuring stick to where he is moving forward.
"I was really happy with the way I felt during and after the match," Lucas said.
"I felt much more relaxed than the first professional fight in December, as I was able to slow everything down.
"That is probably due to the professional style slowly coming into my game, as I can feel the adaptations being made.
"As far as training goes, it's going to be a long development for me into the professional ranks. But I feel I am coming along at a reasonable rate and that I won't try and rush anything."
Lucas hasn't wasted any time organising his next fight, with plans in place for a bout "somewhere on the South Coast" in early May.
