In less than a week at the end of March, the Gerringong Public School student took to the rugby league field, cross country track and athletics track and produced impressive results in all three sports.
The highlight of his efforts saw him return from the NSW Little Athletics State Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on March 20-22 with two gold medals, in the 800-metre and 1500-metre events for his age.
"This is the second time I've been to state and I won the 800 last year, so I was pretty confident going in," Taj said.
"I was pretty happy to win both and to get personal bests in both was pretty good as well."
Taj's efforts at the state carnival are even more impressive considering what he did in the lead-up to the meet.
"I had school footy a couple of days before and had to play a few games, and then the day before we had school cross country and I won that as well," he said.
There was no time to sit back and polish his medals either. The youngster was back on the field on the Monday after the championships to again play rugby league.
"We had the trials for the Southern Illawarra representative team and I managed to make the side as well."
