Arthur, who would have been 96 on Anzac Day, passed away after a short illness, having moved to Mayflower Village at Gerringong several months ago.
Arthur, who was better known as 'Butch', was a legendary second-rower with Kiama Knights, having played in many premiership-winning teams in the 1940s. Last year he was named in the Knights 'Team of the Century'.
He was also a brilliant big-hitting batsman with Kiama and represented South Coast in both league and cricket.
He is survived by his daughters Colleen and Wendy and son Ron and pre-deceased by his wife Beatrice (nee Warren) and daughter Beverley. His brother Ray, 90, lives at Blue Haven.
