Speaking on a podcast related to his new series, the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul, Gilligan pleaded with those responsible for a recent spate of pizza attacks to stop.

"The lady who lives in that house, she and her husband, are the two nicest people in the world," Gilligan said.

"We're hearing from her that folks are wandering onto their property, being rude to her, throwing pizzas on the roof.

"Let me tell you, there is nothing original or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady's roof.

"It's just not funny. It's been done before. You're not the first."

The house, which is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was used for exterior filming in the series.

Since production on the series wrapped, it has become a tourist attraction.

"This has been okay with her for a long time, that people come by and visit and get their picture taken in front of the house," Gilligan said. "They deserve to be treated well."

The significance of the pizza stunt relates to an episode of the show's third season, in which Walter White (Bryan Cranston) comes home with a pepperoni pizza hoping to make up with Skyler (Anna Gunn).

When she rejects his overtures, he hurls the pizza at the roof in a rage.

In the shot as it was originally filmed, the pizza lands neatly on the roof.

Cranston reportedly filmed the scene in a single take.

Gilligan said he did not consider the pizza-throwers true fans of the show.

Gilligan recorded the podcast with host Kelley Dixon, actor Jonathan Banks, co-producer Peter Gould and writer Gordon Smith.

Speaking directly to those responsible, Banks said: "Straighten your ass up, man. It's not cool. You don't treat people that way."

Ultimately, he noted, they have a choice: stop, or face the wrath of Banks' alter-ego Mike Ehrmantraut.

"If I catch you doing it, I will hunt you down," he said.
