Di Caprio bought the New York pad in Greenwich Village last year for $US10 million and it is reportedly now earning him US$300,000 a year from Bill Clinton's former economic policy advisor Jonathan Orszag.
News of the Palm Springs home being for lease follows a report in The Desert Sun that DiCaprio purchased the property for US$5.2 million.
Built in 1964 and designed by architect Donald Wexler for singer/actor Dinah Shore, the six-bedroom residence comes with a tennis court, swimming pool and one-bedroom guest quarters.
It was listed in January with a US$5.5 million asking price and is now on offer to the punters for only US$4500 a night.
