SHELLHARBOUR City Council general manager Michael Willis will not comment on his future with the organisation saying any decision is a "private matter".

Mr Willis' initial contract period of five years expires on November 1, but the general manager declined to say whether he intends to seek an extension as a formal notice period looms.
In 2010 Mr Willis became just the third Shellharbour Council general manager in 50 years, following in the footsteps of Brian Weir (1985-2010) and former town clerk Des King (1959-1984).
Mr Willis was appointed to replace Mr Weir by former Shellharbour Council administrator David Jesson. Mr Willis was serving as the chief executive of the Surrey Heath Borough Council in the UK at the time.
Mr Willis was general manager of Blue Mountains City Council from 2001 to 2007 and had a long career in local government in New Zealand before that.
Shellharbour mayor Marianne Saliba said she hadn't been informed of Mr Willis' intentions, but any discussion would be confidential.
"We have a process to go through ... which will involve all councillors, but any decisions are reported to a full open council meeting," she said.
