The festival runs in the Kiama municipality from March 6-8 at licensed venues, cafes, restaurants and Hindmarsh Park. It features more than 60 free gigs.
Sean Emmett
This homegrown 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Kiama is quickly gaining a following for his heartfelt lyrical instinct with a voice that belies his young age. After picking up a guitar at age 10 he worked on his craft, and by 12 was writing and performing at school.
At just 14 he was cast on national television and his performance skills blossomed, while his outgoing personality garnered him a huge social media following. All this gave him the confidence to begin songwriting and performing in earnest.
With a busy schedule of gigs for the festival his easygoing, confident nature is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. With a broad range of influences from Paul Simon to Muddy Waters to modern artists like John Mayer, this is one local act that is a must-see.
El Grande with Joe Mungovan & James Vann
Impressive is the word that describes the talents of best friends, Joe Mungovan and James Vann, who form El Grande. Both just 20 years of age, the blues/rock duo are fresh from a successful East Coast tour in late 2014 and are ready to delight the crowds at the Youth Concert on Saturday, March 7, and both as El Grande and as individual performers across the weekend.
Tommy M and the Mastersounds
Joe Mungovan makes another appearance during the Kiama Jazz & Blues festival as lead singer of Tommy M and the Mastersounds, a high energy funk, reggae, blues and roots band. This is a group of eight friends, creating a party vibe wherever they play and are set to raise the roof of the Kiama Leagues Club on Saturday, March 7.
If you want to dance the night away then this is the gig for you.
Ben Fryer
Ross Eggleton, musical director for the Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival, was so impressed with this young artist's talent that his inclusion in the concert was a must. Fresh from being named joint winner of the 2015 Kiama Municipal Council Busking Competition, Ben Fryer is in full-on practice mode as he tunes his musical talents for his performance at the Youth Concert on Saturday, March 7.
