The YWCA's Encore program is based on the latest scientific research, which shows that exercise helps manage the side effects of cancer treatment, such as fatigue and pain.
The Breast Cancer Network of Australia recommends regular exercise to help improve physical and emotional well-being, including mood, sleep and bone mineral density.
Encore is not merely about exercise, but allows women to manage their pain, sometimes years down the track, in a supportive environment.
Encore manager Kate Guthrey said the program offered a nurturing environment after the trauma of breast cancer surgery or treatment.
The Encore program runs for eight weeks and can be tailored to all fitness levels, incorporating both land and hydrotherapy exercises.
Beginning on Tuesday, February 3, the class will run weekly from 6pm-8pm.
Participation is free but spaces are limited. The location will be provided when bookings are made
