The Barbarians won the right for promotion after dominating the Illawarra District League last season and made the move back to their original home at Barrack Heights for their inaugural Premier League campaign.
However, their acceptance into the top grade required them to upgrade their facilities.
That task is now more achievable thanks to $7500 in funding from the state government.
"This funding will allow us to get the playing surface at Barrack Heights Oval up to Premier League standard, with the aeration of the soil, the fertilisation, the turfing," Shell Cove FC president Goran Georgievski said.
"We are trying to survive financially and this funding has been a godsend for us."
Shellharbour Liberal candidate Mark Jones said he was pleased the club had been rewarded for its efforts.
"As someone who is directly involved with a number of sporting groups across the region, I have firsthand experience of what a massive difference funding like this can make," he said.
"I would like to congratulate the hard-working volunteers involved with Shell Cove Football Club."
