American trumpet player Bob Montgomery, who has played in the bands of Quincy Jones, Tony Bennett and Clark Terry during his illustrious career to date, will lead the International Quintet concert at the Con's auditorium at Gleniffer Brae on Sunday, January 25.
The concert also features Czech guitarist Libor Smoldas. The Prague-based guitarist played to a full house last year at the Conservatorium and is one of the most sought-after jazz guitarists in Europe.
Australian drummer John Morrison, who leads his own band Swing City, and bassist Craig Scott, who has been one of Australia's leading bassists for more than 30 years, round out the talented band.
Wollongong Conservatorium jazz director Eric Dunan said American saxophonist Josh Quinlan, who holds a doctor of musical arts degree in jazz studies and is based in Colorado, will also perform at the International Quintet concert.
"Having all these great jazz musicians come together in Wollongong for our first show for 2015 is a stroke of good luck," Dunan said.
"Bob Montgomery is a legend in international jazz and Libor Smoldas put on a great show last year."
The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets cost $15/$10/$12 online or $20/$15/$10 at the door.
