Shellharbour City Council are encouraging everyone to think about a ’Plan B’ - an alternative to driving after drinking alcohol – to help keep the roads safe this Christmas.
Mayor Marianne Saliba said it was important to relax and celebrate with friends and family while also staying safe.
"By planning ahead people can avoid the temptation of driving and make sure they get home safely. A little forethought can save lives," Cr Saliba said.
As part of the Plan B campaign, council, in partnership with NSW Transport, will run a competition for the most creative ’Plan B’ for safe travel arrangements.
Prizes on offer, include a ’Plan B’ cricket bat, signed by the whole 2014/15 NSW Blues cricket team.
"Remember – RBT means you need a ’Plan B’ – stay safe these holidays and have a Merry Christmas," Cr Saliba said.
Entries can be made online by following the prompts on the website and the competition starts Thursday, December 18 and finishes Friday, January 30.
Winners will be notified by phone or email and the name of the winner will be placed on the council website and Facebook.
