In addition to Longbottom's recent trip to Tahiti where he featured as a stunt double in the remake of Point Break he will appear for the second time round on even "bigger and better death defying waves".
The movie festival, directed by Tim Bonython, was created in response to the evolving landscape of surfing in Australia and highlights how some of the "best slabs on the planet" are found along the Australian coastline.
The stories behind some of the up-and-coming, brave and talented Australian surfers are all captured through the lens of Bonython in his endless search "for the greatest moments the ocean can offer".
"When it comes to surfers verses nature and the pure exhilaration of what the ocean can deliver, the southern hemisphere has the greatest playground of options on the planet," he said.
"It's seasonal, but there's always so many amazing options to surf and shoot."
The 12th ASMF will illustrate where the sport is now and how far it has come, including stories in Western Australia, Cape Solander (aka Cape Fear) in Sydney, a secret spot off the south coast of NSW, Bombora, Shipsterns in Tasmania, Pedra Branca - a reef 27 kilometres out to sea and Fiji.
The movie will screen at the Greater Union Cinema on Friday.
Tickets are $25 prebooking and $30 at the door.
Ticket deals are available for group bookings.
