The Denny Foundation will host its annual Christmas Party. They are seeking volunteers to help out on the day and help generate the festive buzz of Christmas for those who need it most.
Denny Foundation executive director Margaret Purcell said the community party was in its fourth year and they were seeking volunteers for the day.
"We're hoping for about 150 guests this year and need volunteers to help make it happen and who want to give something back," she said.
Ms Purcell said the party was for local families who were "doing it tough" and also those who were doing it alone.
"It's the toughest time of the year for some doing it on their own and Christmas time has the highest rate of suicide.
"The annual Christmas Party means people have somewhere to go in their local area. It's a great community event and gives people that opportunity to be with others, enjoy good food and have fun at a party, not a soup kitchen."
Ms Purcell said the event had received a lot of support from local businesses who donated food and gifts.
"No family will go away without something to take with them. We will have 20 family hampers to give away and a door prize, and there will be a Santa for the children under 12."
The event will be held at Warilla-Barrack Point Surf Life Saving Club on Christmas Day from 10am, with lunch served at 11am-11.30am.
Ms Purcell said they aimed to have families back home by 2pm-3pm and volunteers finished by 3pm-4pm for other family commitments.
